UVU Training Camp, St. Moritz

Growing up, playing team sports was the foundation of my youth. From elementary school soccer to D1 lacrosse in college team sports have created a sense of camaraderie, responsibility and purpose that I’ve carried through my adulthood. At its core, running is an individual sport - but as I've become more involved in the running community as both an athlete and a coach, I've found constant motivation in my friends and athletes around me. I like to think that the support flows both ways, much like it does within a real team.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of spending time with the team at UVU. I was initially drawn to their unique style of creating a brand in the running space that feels both fresh and authentic. When I began coaching them last year, we started discussing what a training camp might look like in preparation for our fall races.

It didn’t take long to land on St. Moritz as our first choice - the running trails surrounding crystal blue lakes smothered by the mountainous fresh air is really a runner's dream. Already being late August, the team was fit and already nearing race form - even at 6,000 ft. We had some “breathtaking” sessions and made some great memories along the way. There will definitely be more trips for us in the future but St. Moritz will be a tough act to follow.
