After the success of the Cloudmonster campaign from Summer 2023, On had asked if I could run it back for its highly anticipated release of the Cloudeclipse. When working with a brand, it's important to me to be able to bring my own creative vision while still preserving the brand ethos. On is clean, the apparel is sleek - with smooth muted colors and highly technical yet minimalist design. The campaign messaging was to consider Cloudeclipse, which happens to be the highest stack, most plush shoe On has made, to be “noise-cancelling” for your feet.
When it comes to finding that peace and tranquility in New York City that us runners yearn for, your best option is at sunrise or sunset. Garrison and I thought through various ways to do this - and it was pretty straightforward once we had aligned on the brand messaging: run my normal loop through downtown NYC, starting in Soho, through Chinatown, as the sun is setting, ending in the dark.
Our objective was to showcase both the Cloudeclipse and reflective On apparel in the midst of the New York City rush hour, showing that although there may be noise around you, the smooth ride of the Cloudeclipse can help you zone it all out. One image in particular that I loved was shot through a mirror at the top of an overpass with the skyline in the background - giving the effect it was captured by a security camera - what better way to show the isolation and escape of a runner in the zone.
